Jean-Paul Sartre skitserer et moderne og rodl\u00f8st menneske, der oplever friheden som en sp\u00e6ndetr\u00f8je, og har p\u00e5 mange m\u00e5der forgrebet vores moderne bykultur med dens individualisme, identitetss\u00f8gen og kropsbevidsthed. Med begreber som Frihed, Selvbedrag og Valg s\u00e6tter Sartre for alvor eksistensfilosofien p\u00e5 dagsordnen i efterkrigstidens Europa. Hans skarpsindige analyser af grundtr\u00e6kkene ved den menneskelige eksistens \u2013 selvbedrag, kropslighed, fremmedg\u00f8relse og frihed \u2013 karakteriserer pr\u00e6cist den moderne verden, som stadig i dag er vores vilk\u00e5r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>V\u00e6ren og Intet<\/em> udkom f\u00f8rste gang p\u00e5 fransk i 1943 og er hovedv\u00e6rket i Sartres filosofi.
